Yul Edochie, a Nigerian actor has responded to the blame being pushed to Nollywood that it is responsible for the spates of ritual killings in recent times in the country because of how the industry projects blood money.
On Wednesday, during the plenary, the House of Representatives had called for the declaration of a state of emergency on ritual killings that has spread across the country and apportioned some blames to the Nollywood industry as all stakeholders were tasked to begin a national campaign to change the orientation of the people towards the heinous act.
The actor took to his Instagram page to say that right from when he was a kid in the 1980s, he had started hearing of ritual killing in Nigeria. AAtthat time there was no Nollywood.
Yul added that hunger and poverty make people commit crimes and not Nollywood.
The industry only shows what happens in Nigerian society.
Fix the country and crime will go away and do not blame Nollywood, he ended.
